Fast food restaurants like McDonald’s may get a bad rap health-wise, but those seemingly healthier “fast casual” restaurants may actually be worse when it comes to calories, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of South Carolina found that entree dishes from Chipotle and other “fast-casual” restaurants like Shake Shack and Panera Bread contain roughly 200 more caloriesthan those from fast-food chains like Taco Bell and McDonald’s.

But here’s a major caveat of the study: It only looked at calorie counts for these entrees and not the actual nutritional content. Foods like guacamole — which comes loaded with healthy fats — may be higher in calories, but they’re hands-down better for you than many of the processed options that are impossible to avoid at fast-food restaurants.
